FILM - Kelsey Ellison
Shot on TMAX 400 film, I wanted to start my subject photography with concepts that I personally feel a connection with. This is my first organised location shoot in London, using my Ricoh KR-5. The concept covers the history we have under the women of society, the pain that we go through and what we have been through back in history. The immediate connection I hope to push for is the sense of detachment the subject displays here. The morbid and uncanny feeling from the images showcase the shared reality of being a woman today, and back then. The immediate story divulges deep into the anatomy of a woman back in victorian/Edwardian eras, a social standard that if a woman can't conceive, she is worthless. The toll taken on the psyche can be witnessed here, a ghoulish pain that still lingers today.
